The Neo Investigative Judgment

Harold Camping says May 21, 2011 was ‘invisible judgment day,’ world will end October 21, 2011

An organization run by Harold Camping of Oakland, Calif. has purchased billboards all over the country proclaiming May 21st would mark the end of the world. (Chris Pietsch)
You’ve been warned.

Radio evangelist Harold Camping said in a special broadcast Monday night on his radio program Open Forum that his predicted May 21, 2011 Rapturewas “an invisible judgment day“ that he has come to understand as a spiritual, rather than physical event.

“We had all of our dates correct,” Camping insisted, clarifying that he now understands that Christ’s May 21 arrival was “a spiritual coming” ushering in the last five months before the final judgment and destruction.

In an hour and a half broadcast, Camping walked listeners through his numerological timeline, insisting that his teaching has not changed and that the world will still end on October 21, 2011.

“It wont be spiritual on October 21st,” Camping said, adding, “the world is going to be destroyed all together, but it will be very quick.”

Camping had previously pointed to October 21 as the last day on earth for all humanity.

His former assertion was that a faithful three percent would be physically pulled into heaven by God through the Rapture on May 21, to be followed by a five month period of great suffering known as the Tribulation, ending, finally, on October 21. On Monday’s broadcast, Camping speculated that perhaps a merciful God decided to spare humanity five months of “hell on earth.”

Camping’s belief system is one part mainstream Christian teaching and another part pure Camping. While many Christians accept similar teachings on the end times, (Pew has found that 41 percent of Americans think Jesus will “definitely or probably return to Earth before 2050”) most reject the idea that you can either know God’s exact timeline or that the Bible is embedded with secret codes.

My Commentary: Adventists need to open their eyes and see that this is almost a replay of the October 22, 1844 Millerite Movement reoccurring in front of their own eyes. It is good though that the devastation of hunger, murder, suicide is absent. Adventists AWAKE! God has allowed this for some reason, perhaps a part of it is to wake you up and shake you into reality. This was the beginning of your own sect! A false prophecy. Don't romanticize and make excuses for SDA pioneers, they were just like Pastor Camping, sincere but wrong! President of the Adventist Church, Ted Wilson, televangelists like Doug Batchelor, Mike Tucker and (former tele) Shawn Boonstra need to honestly address this. Time to put childish things away.

If I were the SDA president, I would cancel the Babylon Rises prophecy seminar, encourage all SDAs to get on their knees and repent for their stubbornness, their pride and their continuing of false information that led to a break with Christ's body of believers in other denominations. Gods LOVES YOU ADVENTISTS!! Repent and walk in both the Spirit and in Truth. God bless you!

Max,
When these groups who follow false prophets make unbiblical predictions that fail, it doesn't draw attention to the second coming but brings on cynicism, ennui and mockery.

St. Paul says that when we take part in the Lord's Supper we proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. (I Cor. 1:26) When we partake in the Lord's Supper we remind ourselves and others that there IS a second coming and judgment.

Most Fundamentalists teach the Second Coming regularly as well as Catholics have the Advent season which focuses both on the first and second coming. So I don't think the subject is getting ignored. Camping's prophecy, in my opinion, did little to glorify God or to shed light on the subject.

My commentary:

Adventist have already addressed the "great disapointment", and need not make any apologies. The time of 1844 was prophesied to be, and so was the "disapointment" which really is a misnomer. It was NOT a disapointment. Miller's understanding of the book of Daniel gained world wide attention because of it's accuracy and common sense to interpreting prophecy (historacist method). What the "disappointment" did was separate the real believers, the real faithful from those that merely jumped on the band wagon with no real conversion of heart. Those that knew that something had occured in 1844, went back to the bible with much prayer and were shown that indeed Daniel 8 was fulfilled by Christ entering the Most Holy place in Heaven.

I know you scoff, but Catholicism fails miserably in understanding prophecy. The "church" only became interested in God's prophetic message in the 16th century, and that was only to counter the reformation. This is where the origin of preterism and futurism took root, methods of interpreting prophecy I find laughable. Most reformers were gaining an understanding of prophecy and were figuring out, long before SDA's, that the "church" was indeed Babylon, and the antichrist!

Prohecy is also the Gospel, This is what Jesus was refering to when he said, "I have much more to say to you..." John 16:12.

I am not ashamed nor embarressed by "the great dissapointment" and to me the only ones that need to apologize are those that do not take a serious look at prophecy and stand on the outside and mock God's Gospel. Yes, I know you claim to have been an SDA, but really after reading about your time in God's church, I have come to the conclusion you were NOT an SDA after all. Not in the truest sense of the meaning, you were a fringe of Adventism, so liberal I can't even call it SDA! So it's really wrong to portray yourself as an Adventist.

I would invite you to create a post on the prophecy of Daniel 8 and study it and prove that the 2300 days were already "fulfilled in Christ". It is easy to mock it with newspaper clippings, but how about from the bible?

2 Peter 1: 19-21, "We have the word of prophecy [made] more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts: knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation. For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit."

Peter, the chief of the Apostles under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit penned that NO prophecy is of private interpretation. That means I don't get to interpret it, neither do you, neither does Ellen White or Joshua Himes.

Ellen White directly went against scripture when she interpreted it. The angel that came to her was that which Paul warned us against--the angel of light which speaks against God's Word.

If you wish to believe this false angel I am very sorry for you. If you wish to go against scripture and try and personally interpret Bible prophecy, you are free to go against the Word of God.

Have mercy upon all our souls Lord, for we are lost in our spirit of pride....! Humble us that we may serve and obey You faithfully. Amen.

The Key word in 2 Peter 1 is "private". It does NOT say no prophecy can be interpreted or understood, it means that no prophecy can be interpreted for personal usage (Camping). Prophecy must be interpreted in the context it was given, private interpretation takes it out of its context and therefore changes its meaning to suit a personal agenda.

You lack discernment:

Revelation 1
1The Revelation OF JESUS CHRIST, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

2Who bare record of the word of God, and of the TESIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST, and of all things that he saw.

3BLESSED IS HE that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

You also lack common sense, all prophecy that SDA's understand did NOT come from EGW. Like I said before, SDA's picked up on what had been generally understood of prophecy by people hundreds of years ago! What people should be looking at is the erroneous methods of interpreting prophecy (preterism and futurism) used by Camping and most protestant denominations have there roots in Catholicism. These methods were used as a deflection against the historicist method that people like Dante Alighieri,Girolamo Savonarola the Waldenses, Martin Luther, John Knox, John Calvin, Tyndale to mention some, were using that rightly identified the Catholic Church as the whore of Babylon and Antichist. So it is really wrong to zero in on EGW as the source of SDA eschatology.

Arik:

The point of what Peter said was specifically for people like Ellen White and Joshua Himes. (I did not pick her out as I placed her alongside you and I and Joshua Himes. She is but one of hundreds of individuals who have gone against scripture by promoting her personal take on prophecy.) WE AS INDIVIDUALS are not to take on the task of interpreting prophecy, that was given to the church, the Body of Christ not individuals.

Ellen's vision as recorded in the Great Controversy did reflect some of the theological influences of the day, it also regurgitated very bad theology and incorrect history.

But it was innovative in that it predicted that in the last days Christians would turn on Adventists and persecute them. That the Sabbath would be the issue. That there would be a huge sign in the sky with the Ten Commandments and God's hand.

The Adventists raison d'etre is to give the world a new and EVERLASTING Gospel (The 3 Angels' Message)--this was unknown up until Ellen-- This was originally a personal interpretation--like Campings--that went viral on many who do not know scripture. This was precisely what Peter was speaking about when he wrote against personal interpretation.

Arik said...

The Three Angel's Message is NOT 'new" as you say. The Bible does'nt say new, nor does the SDA church. The Gospel has been around since the fall in Genesis.

I know you take no interest in prophecy, but really even you can not deny that the Three Angels Messgage in Rev. 14 is indeed the last message to go out to the world (with a loud voice) just before Jesus returns (vs. 14).
Within this message can be found the Sabbath, the investigative judgment, the state of the dead, the gift of prophecy and the antichrist just to mention a few.

You are right in that the message of the Three Angels Message, especially the 2nd and 3rd Angel's was not understood until the time of the SDA church. Why would it? Prophecy has its rightful time and place in history, this is proven by Daniel 12:4 "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."

I think that if God already had a church on Earth, He would have commissioned it to declare the final Gospel message to a dying world. But the "Church" takes no interest in prophecy, and scoffs at the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

Teresa Beem said...

Arik,

What I was saying, as you are very well aware of this, that the SDA version of the Three Angels' Message, the SDA interpretation is what is new.

Who is scoffing at Revelation and prophecy? What we do is disagree with your church's unbiblical and innovative way of interpreting it. We do not believe your interpretation is from God.

Excellent insightful comments to which I'll like to add these points. I'll like try to make a distinction between the words "personal versus personal interpretation".

private: Confined to particular persons, groups or providing privacy...wordweb

secret: Not open or public; kept private or not revealed...wordweb

2 Peter 1:20 (KJV)
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation.

The SDA heretical doctrine of the investigative judgment is a perfect example of private interpretation doctrine not held by any other organized group. It is secret doctrine, just like the Assumption of Mary is private doctrine of the Catholics. Stated another way no SDA denomination means no investigative judgment doctrine.

personal: Concerning or affecting a particular person or his or her private life and personality....wordweb

1Corinthians 16:12 (KJV)
12 As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.

For example the apostle Paul allowed Apollos to express his own personal opinion, interpretation, whatever though different than his and respected it. I guess you recall how Paul and Silas became teammates (Acts 15:39. Yes personal differences can divide.

Romans 12:18 (KJV)
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

In short private doctrine implies a secret doctrine that all potential members of that group must know about and accept. This is similar to how "secret societies/mystery Babylon" schools operate...with secret doctrine. It's the secret societies (freemasons, etc)and the banks which are ruling the governments of the world and the churches including the SDA Church. Please research this issue for oneself. Rev 17:1-6, 1 Timothy 6:10, etc.

I'll hasten to add I think we are living in the era of the (4th) church of Thyatira not of the (7th) Laodiceans. Therefore the prophecy of Rev 2:18-29 applies of the SDA Church and Ellen G. White in particular. And this is where Harold Camping and his Oct 22nd dates etc play a part. God is getting ready to destroy the SDA Church and they (SDA's) must repent of their heretical beliefs and return to the fold of Christ.

I hope I am not offering private interpretation for the bible is clear. There's only one pathway to salvation

2 Peter 1:21 (KJV)
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Matthew 7:13-15
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

God bless.

Howard Camping's false predictions could be an excuse for the expression of religious fanaticism by churches with heretical doctrine with emphasis on the SDA Church (Rev. 2:18-29). If you believe private SDA doctrines like the 2300 days prophecy, investigative judgment, and I'm sure there are others one cannot properly interpret the prophesies of Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Revelation, Matthew, Genesis, all 66 books of the bible. One is left with false conclusions deliberately taught and sometimes adhered to for financial gain however God is not mocked. The SDA Church may be used as by secret societies and allowed by God to discredit christianity and bring persecution upon themselves until they cast out heretical doctrinal beliefs.

In September 2011 there is a vote on the acceptance of a Palestinian state. On March 11, 2010 Japan expressed support for the palestinian state and on March 11, 2011 the tsunami struck. How will the US vote in September 2011 and will God allow the SDA Church with her heretical beliefs, be used to cause serious problems if the vote is against Israel? Maybe this what the Howard Camping May/Oct 2011 prophesies (replaying the 1844 Millerite/Adventist prophesies) is all about.

Japan has consistently pressured Israel to give up much of her God-given land to her enemies, including part of God's holy city, Jerusalem. By doing so, Japan is poking its finger in God's eye....

Because of false Adventist beliefs SDA members will not understand fully what I am about to reveal. If my interpretation of the 4th beast of Daniel 7 (described by male pronouns in verse 19) and not a described a animal (with blood) as the other three beasts were (Dan. 7:7,19)then "robots, androids, mechanical beasts controlled by powers of darkness (and their associates) is my understanding I believe the Holy Spirit gave me, Robots (computers etc)are here (duh!) and are coming. (Did anyone watch Jeopardy with the computer contestant?) God's people, christains, need to know what the bible not hollywood says concerning these last days.

Isaiah 13:21..satyrs shall dance there.

Satyr Greek Mythology. A woodland creature depicted as having the pointed ears, legs, and short horns of a goat and a fondness for unrestrained revelry...wordweb

The powers of darkness Nephillim/fallen angels, are returning with robots and angel/human hybrids-giants and transgenetic creatures (centaurs, satyrs etc)(Isaiah 60:16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: , as in Noah's day (Genesis 6), and in Moses and David's time (Deuteronomy 2) (Goliath, Zamzummims, Horims, Emims, Anakims) were destroyed but the giants are returning and probably have returned (Matthew 24:37-38, Rev 9, Isaiah 13, Luke 21). People will die of fear, of heart attacks when they see these transgenetic creatures, evil spirits, giants, robotic creatures descent upon the earth and destroy our way of life but the bible says 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Why should atheists and pagans know more of future events than God's people? He gave us the prophesies in his Holy Word the Bible.

SDA Church needs to return to the atoning saving grace of Jesus alone and stop teaching heresy in their prophesy series(the only reason this is happening is for money...the love of money).

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
